A jersey hijab can be a useful starting point for an everyday modest wardrobe. Its knitted structure gives it flexibility, while the final feel and drape depend on the fabric blend and weight. The best style is one that feels comfortable and works with your outfit.
You do not need an elaborate routine. Start with a few gentle folds, check your coverage in a mirror and adjust the tension until the scarf sits comfortably. These three ideas are starting points you can make your own.
Before you begin
Choose a clean, dry scarf and smooth it out without pulling hard. If you like wearing an undercap, choose one that feels comfortable rather than tight. Whether you use an undercap or fastening is a personal choice: do not assume every jersey hijab will stay in place without one.
Our stretch jersey hijabs measure approximately 60 × 210 cm. Check the individual product details and experiment with the fold to find the coverage you prefer.
1. The relaxed everyday drape
- Place the hijab over your head with one side longer than the other.
- Fold the edge back slightly if you prefer a neater frame around your face.
- Bring the longer side around gently, letting the fabric fall over your shoulder.
- Adjust the shorter side and check the front and back coverage.
Keep the fabric loose enough to move comfortably. Light cream or grey makes a versatile starting point when your outfit already has a print or several colours.
2. The neatly tucked look
For a cleaner outline, arrange the scarf with more even lengths and bring each end across gently. Tuck the ends into a loose neckline or an outer layer, taking care not to bunch the fabric or pull it tight. Check the result while sitting as well as standing, particularly if your outfit has a high collar.
A shade close to your top can create a simple, coordinated look. Try a grey hijab with charcoal or a cream hijab with warm neutrals.
3. The longer shoulder layer
Leave one end longer, wrap it loosely and allow the remaining fabric to fall down the front or over a shoulder. Spread the fabric rather than stretching it to create the width you want. This approach works well when you want the hijab colour to be a visible part of your outfit.
Emerald green, maroon and turquoise can add a richer accent to a plain outfit. Our colour edit is a useful place to compare the palette.
Make comfort your final check
Turn your head, lift your arms and check that the scarf still feels comfortable. If you use pins or other fastenings, handle them carefully and avoid dragging them through the knit. After wearing, follow the care guidance for your particular scarf rather than treating every jersey blend the same way.
